Oven & BBQ Cleaning FAQs
Grouped by what you are actually trying to find out. If yours is not here, call 0402 148 455 - we would rather answer it now than on the day.
Booking
How far ahead do I need to book?
We are usually booking a week or two out, and busier before Christmas and at the end of the financial year. We do keep some earlier slots for urgent inspection and end-of-lease jobs, so if you are working to a deadline tell us the date and we will do what we can.
Which areas of Perth do you cover?
We cover the Perth metro from Yanchep in the north down to Mandurah in the south, plus the eastern and western suburbs. Five local teams work across those regions, so you get whoever is closest to you.
Do I need to be home while you work?
Not the whole time, but we do need access at the start and someone to look over the finished job. Plenty of customers let us in, go out, and come back at the end. If you would rather arrange access another way, just tell us when you book.
Do you work weekends?
Yes. We run seven days a week, and for commercial kitchens we can also work early mornings, evenings or between services so your trade is not interrupted.
The clean itself
How long does an oven clean take?
Allow around 1.5 hours for a single oven. Larger, heavily soiled or more complex ovens may take longer. We will confirm the expected time when we quote.
Can you clean between the oven door glass?
Yes, and it is one of the things people notice most. On most ovens the door can be dismantled so the inside faces of the glass are reachable. Some door designs are sealed by the manufacturer and cannot be opened safely - if yours is one of those we will tell you on inspection rather than force it.
Do I need to do anything before you arrive?
Just empty the oven or BBQ of trays, foil and anything stored inside, and clear enough bench space for us to work. We bring everything else, including protection for your floor and benchtops.
Do you clean BBQs as well as ovens?
Yes - BBQ cleaning is a big part of what we do. Grills and hotplates come off and are decarbonised separately, burners are cleared and checked, and the drip tray, base and hood are degreased. It cooks more evenly and lasts longer for it.
My oven has never been cleaned. Is it too far gone?
Almost certainly not. Most of the photos in our gallery started out looking beyond saving. Very old build-up takes longer and sometimes needs a second treatment, but it nearly always comes back. If we genuinely cannot improve something we will tell you before you commit.
Safety & products
Will you scratch or damage the appliance?
We match the product and the tool to the finish - stainless, enamel, ceramic and induction all get handled differently. We are fully insured, and if something is already cracked, chipped or broken we will point it out and photograph it before we start.
What cleaning products do you use?
Professional-grade degreasers, including caustic gels for heavy carbon, chosen to suit the surface. They are applied deliberately and rinsed off, with your bench and floor protected the whole time. The appliance is wiped down and safe to use once we have finished.
Is it safe around children and pets?
While we are working, keep children and pets out of the room - we are using professional degreasers and hot water. Once the clean is finished and everything is rinsed and wiped down, the kitchen is safe to use as normal and you can cook that night.
Will my kitchen smell of chemicals afterwards?
There is some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate the room. It clears quickly once we are done. If you want to be extra sure before cooking, run the oven empty at a moderate temperature for fifteen minutes with a window open.
Are you insured?
Yes, Silver Shine Services carries full public liability insurance. We have been operating across Perth since 2020 and have cleaned more than 10,000 domestic and commercial appliances.
Prices & payment
How much does oven cleaning cost in Perth?
It depends on the appliance and its condition, so we give you a fixed price before we start rather than an hourly rate that can run away. Send us the appliance type and your suburb and we will come back with a firm quote. There are no call-out surprises - the price you accept is the price you pay.
How do I pay?
We invoice on completion and accept bank transfer and card. For commercial work we can set up account terms and recurring billing. You will get a proper tax invoice either way.
What happens if the job turns out to be bigger than quoted?
We tell you before we do the extra work, not after. If we open something up and find it is significantly worse than it looked in your photos, we will explain what is involved and what it would cost, and you decide.
Afterwards
Can I use the oven straight away?
Yes. Once we have finished and everything is reassembled, the appliance is ready to use - you can cook that night.
How often should I have it cleaned?
For most families, once a year keeps an oven on top of things. Heavy cooks, big households and anyone who roasts a lot often go every six months. BBQs are usually done once a season, most often heading into summer or before Christmas.
How do I keep it clean for longer?
Wipe spills while the oven is still warm rather than letting them bake on, use a tray under anything likely to bubble over, and give the BBQ a quick burn-off and brush after each cook. That alone makes the annual clean far easier.
